Winter 2025 Edition
As winter settles in and the festive season approaches, the Winter 2025 edition of Community News brings together a warm mix of updates, reflections and community stories. You can download the latest edition below and enjoy it at your leisure.

Whether you’re reading by the fire or with a cup of tea in hand, here are five key highlights from the Winter 2025 issue:
A warm welcome and a fresh start
This issue marks a new chapter for Community News, with Lukasz Piecha stepping in as editor following a short hiatus. With strong local connections and a collaborative approach, the magazine continues to be shaped by the community it serves, and readers are encouraged to get involved, share news and help keep it thriving (p1).
A buzzing Community Centre this winter
The Community Centre remains at the heart of local life, offering a wide range of activities to keep spirits high through the colder months. From fitness and yoga classes to chess, gaming and social gatherings, there’s something for everyone, alongside new additions like the Artisan Market and craft workshops (pp2–3, 11).
Important changes ahead; make your voice heard
There are significant developments underway in how local government may be structured in the future. The Community Governance Review gives residents the chance to have their say on proposals that could affect parish arrangements and representation, making this an important moment to get involved (pp4, 7).
Community initiatives making a difference
From the Repair Café’s impressive sustainability work to the upcoming “Borrow it Winchester” Library of Things, this issue highlights practical ways the community is supporting both people and the planet. There’s also helpful advice on home energy and local care services, offering reassurance and support during the winter months (pp5, 10).
Stories that capture the spirit of the community
At its heart, this edition is about people. A moving tribute to Merv Hall celebrates a life of service (p2), while stories of schoolchildren visiting care homes and updates from local groups and clubs show the strength of connection across generations. It’s a reminder of the kindness and community spirit that carry us through the season (pp12–14, 17).
