Chat-Tea Café celebrates its 5th birthday
February was an exceptionally busy month for the Chat-Tea Café, as it celebrated its 5th birthday in style. The café, known for its warm atmosphere and community spirit, was buzzing with activity, leaving everyone exhausted but elated by the end of the day.
The preparations for the special day were not without their challenges. The first hurdle was acquiring a ‘5’ cake tin, a task that was successfully accomplished thanks to the efforts of Debbie. Lesley then took on the baking challenge, and despite a few hiccups, produced a magnificent cake.
The café was honoured by the presence of Cllr Jan Warwick, who not only cut the cake but also shared a few words of encouragement. Winchester Radio also visited, adding to the excitement of the day. Despite her initial apprehensions, Chat-Tea Café organiser Sheana bravely faced the microphone and gave a great interview.
It was lovely to welcome a group of residents from Shawford Springs Care Home. They were delighted to be a part of the 5th birthday celebrations which they featured on their Facebook page. The team are looking forward to seeing them again.
Sheana tells us:
We had nearly 50 guests on that day. We lost count of the number of hot drinks and slices of cake which flew off the catering table. It was a lovely atmosphere and everyone seemed happy and full of laughter.
Happy 5th Birthday, Chat-Tea Café!
More celebrations
The Chat-Tea Café will next open its doors on 25 March for a celebration of all things Easter! They’re also delighted to welcome representatives from Brendoncare, a local charity celebrating their 40th anniversary. Brendoncare provides care homes, extra care housing and community services for older people across the south of England. Tanya Dayton will give a short talk about the Brendoncare Community Clubs and Laura Simmons will introduce the Brendoncare homes in Winchester and the surrounding areas.
It’s been a busy year so far for the Chat-Tea Café, and there’s no sign of things slowing down anytime soon.
The café offers a warm welcome, some great company and free tea, coffee and cake to those “of a certain age” on the fourth Monday of each month (except August).
