City Councillors Brian Laming and Lynda Bannister welcome Phil Bailey as the new County Councillor for Downlands division and thank Charlotte Bailey for all the help and support she has given to us locally and to wish her a happy ‘retirement’. They discuss the tree management scheme for Badger Farm, the consultation about proposals for new homes and facilities in Stanmore and dog fouling.
Badger Farm Parish Council mention how pretty the area is in spring. They are also are looking into the possibility of introducing Highland cattle onto designated (and controlled) areas of the Ridge during the winter months.
Stanmore Primary’s Year 3/4 children had a treat earlier this term when they became the first pupils to use their brand new video
conferencing facilities. After booking a slot with the National Space Centre the children gathered in Oak Class for a live presentation and question and answer session with one of their education specialists. Pupils had a guided tour of the solar system and discovered the properties of all the different planets, including our own. It was very exciting hearing from an expert – pupils even heard a few words from astronaut Charlie Duke who was the 10th person to walk on the surface of the moon.
