Building community
Community is the foundation for our lives

Spring is here and with the new enthusiasm it brings we are pleased to announce the new raft of joint community projects the Community Centre are undertaking hand in hand with our local Parish Councils, local Community Groups and even those across Winchester.
Our community projects
Sustainability events
Our positive relationship with Badger Farm Parish Council has enabled the launch of Sustainable Badger Farm to work with Sustainable Oliver’s Battery, and Oliver’s Battery Countryside Group to create events on the 2nd Saturday of each month focused on different topics the we all and our community can do to try and ease the impact of Climate Change. The Parish Council Biodiversity groups have made vital contributions to these not least in drive and enthusiasm.
Repair café
Together we, the Community Centre, Badger Farm Parish Council and Oliver’s Battery Parish Council are all working together with other groups in Winchester, (currently Unit 12 Winnall) to create a Repair Café for Winchester. This will allow residents to bring small items like furniture, small electrical, clothing and others to be repaired by skilled volunteers rather than thrown away.
Wildlife education
As yet another joint venture we are launching a programme of wildlife education sessions for children which will run on Sunday mornings from 24th April to 15th May between the 2 parishes.

Contemplation benches
Badger Farm Parish Council are also planning the creation of a number of benches along the pathways of Badger Farm for rest and contemplation, but as with even the smallest construction project these will take time. The wildflowers however continue to flourish into their third year of active promotion.
Our community
These community projects are only possible because of the joint efforts of Badger Farm and Oliver’s Battery Parish Councils, their Sustainability and Biodiversity groups, the other Winchester wide groups working with us, the Community Centre, for all of us, the Residents. The majority of the people working in these groups are dedicated volunteers as well as residents so please join with us and help us all to make our community a better place.
We will shortly be adding contact information for all of the groups involved in these projects.
