Badger Farm Community Centre is looking to set up a community inspired cake gathering aimed particularly at the over 65’s in the community and we need your help! Launching in January 2019 – the Badger Farm Chatty Café scheme will be open from 1-3pm on the 3rd Monday of every month and aims to provide somewhere to go for those that may feel isolated or lonely in the community. A place to find a friendly face and the kettle on and hopefully a slice of delicious cake. Loneliness and isolation are a daily reality for many over 65’s and this regular get together wants to encourage people over 65 to come along and be part of a group in running and attending the Chatty Café. However, we can’t set this up and make it a free enterprise for those that need it without your help.
If you think you could spare a couple of hours a month in helping out at the café or baking a cake or organising how it runs or helping to find funds then we would love to hear from you. We can’t really achieve this without you and loneliness in the elderly really is a horrible issue that a small amount of time and effort could make a change, so we would love your involvement to give it a go.
We hope to set up a steering group meeting in the Community Centre on the 22nd October at 1pm to get the ball rolling so if this is something you think you could be part of then please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. We look forward to hearing from you!
