Support for Fibromyalgia sufferers
Fibromyalgia, also called fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), is a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body. We are a self-help support group for fibromites, their families and carers.
This group started in February 2008 with a lot of encouragement from a wonderful occupational therapist at Winchester Hospital, who gave us the belief, that despite our illness, we could organise a much needed support group in our area.
Our meetings are held every third Monday of the month from 10.30am to 1.30pm at Badger Farm Community Centre. We have guest speakers at most of our meetings but leave a few months free for a social gathering and group discussion. Each meeting has time for conversation with fellow sufferers as well as the opportunity to learn more about our condition.
Entrance fees per meeting are £3 for non-members, £2 for members and £1 for Carers. Membership is £5 and entitles you to borrow books from our library and receive informative emails, group discount for FaMily magazine and invitations to group social events. We are also always looking for people who would like to come along and give a talk to our group on interesting subjects.
